    ‘Bahan Hogi Teri’ Case: Rajkummar Rao Skips Jalandhar Court Hearing, Next Date Issued

    Jalandhar, Punjab: A hearing was held in Jalandhar court today in the case related to the allegations of hurting religious sentiments in the film ‘Bahan Hogi Teri’ (2017), but actor Rajkumar Rao himself did not appear in the court today. Now the court has fixed the date for the next hearing of this case. While co-accused Panna Lal appeared in the court today.

    On Monday, Rajkumar Rao surrendered in the court and was granted bail by Judge Srujan Shukla. He had earlier also got anticipatory bail, but a non-bailable warrant was issued against him for not appearing in the last hearing. According to lawyer Darshan Singh Dayal, Rao was not able to get information about the summons as it was sent to the wrong address.

    The court has now given a date for the next hearing of the case. At the same time, the complainant side has said that it is a serious matter related to religious faith and will continue the legal battle.

    Senior advocate Darshan Singh Dayal, who is pleading on behalf of Raj Kumar Rao, said- A complaint was filed against his client by a person named Ishant Sharma.

    In which he had said that Raj Kumar Rao has insulted the form of Lord Shiva in the film Behan Hogi Teri. Advocate Darshan Singh Dayal further said- In the scene, it was shown that Lord Shiva is wearing slippers on his feet.

    The lawyer further said- According to the belief, the sentiments of Hindu leaders were hurt by this. Due to which they filed a complaint in the year 2017. On the basis of which a case was registered.

    The case was registered for hurting religious sentiments. The summons that were being sent to Raj Kumar Rao in the case were going to his wrong address. Because according to the case registered against him, his address was written as Gurgaon. But he lives in Andheri, Mumbai.

    Dayal said- arrest warrant was issued after not receiving response to summons

    Lawyer Dayal further said that the police had arrested Panna Lal and another person from Mumbai in the case. They were later granted regular bail. But when Raj Kumar Rao did not know about the summons, the court issued an arrest warrant.

    Darshan Singh Dayal said but she was granted bail on Monday. It was argued in the court that the summons were being sent to the wrong address, due to which Rao did not know. Darshan Singh Dayal further said- the next hearing will be on July 30. The court had given a clean chit to Shruti Hassan in the case.

    What is the matter?

    The case was registered in the year 2017 at Police Station Division Number 5, Jalandhar. The complainant, who is said to be a local Shiv Sena leader and the producer of the film, had alleged that the film depicted Lord Shankar in an inappropriate manner, which hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community. The complaint also said that a poster and scenes of the film were objectionable.

    On this basis, the police had registered a case against the film’s director Nitin Kakkar, producer Amul Vikas Mohle, actress Shruti Haasan and actor Raj Kumar Rao under various sections including section 295-A and 153-A. Shruti Haasan has already got bail from the court.

    What did Hindu leader Ishant Sharma say in the FIR filed?

    According to this FIR lodged in Jalandhar, the producer, director and actors of the film ‘Behan Hogi Teri’ were accused of hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindu community. According to the complaint, Lord Shiva was shown in a cartoon-like image in the film, which was found offensive to the followers of Hinduism.

    The complainant, Hindu leader Ishant Sharma, alleged that the presentation not only disrespected Lord Shiva but also attempted to hurt religious sentiments by sharing it on social media.

    The FIR states that the accused, including the film’s producer Amul Vikas Mohan, director Ajay Pannalal, and actor Rajkummar Rao, deliberately and maliciously hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

    The complainant wrote that such an act not only hurts the Hindu society but also increases the possibility of creating enmity on religious grounds in the society. Complainant Ishant Sharma had demanded from the police that a case be registered against the accused. After which the police registered a case under section 295-A and 153-A of the IPC in the matter.
