Police constable killed in gun attack on checkpost in Balochistan, Pakistan

Quetta: A police constable was killed after armed gunmen attacked a police checkpost in the Huramzai area of Pishin district in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The incident took place when unidentified attackers opened fire on security personnel stationed at the post.

Exchange of fire between police and attackers

According to police officials, the attackers used automatic weapons and suddenly targeted the checkpost. Security forces immediately responded, leading to a heavy exchange of fire between both sides. The clash continued for some time before the attackers managed to flee the scene.

Constable killed on duty

During the firing, a police head constable sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. No other casualties have been confirmed so far. Authorities later shifted the body for post-mortem examination.

Search operation launched

Following the attack, police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the attackers. Checkpoints in nearby areas have also been tightened to prevent further incidents.

Investigation underway

Officials have initiated an investigation to determine the identities and motives of the armed assailants. Preliminary reports suggest that the attackers escaped under cover of darkness after the brief but intense firefight.
