Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman holds talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing

Beijing: Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Friday, as the two leaders discussed strengthening political, economic and strategic cooperation between their countries.

The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People, where President Xi welcomed Prime Minister Rahman and reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepening its comprehensive strategic partnership with Bangladesh.

Focus on trade, investment and connectivity

During the talks, both sides reviewed progress in bilateral relations and explored ways to expand cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure development, connectivity and industrial collaboration. They also discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation under regional and multilateral frameworks.

Prime Minister Rahman highlighted Bangladesh’s interest in attracting greater Chinese investment and strengthening economic ties to support the country’s development goals.

Regional stability and strategic cooperation

The two leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments, emphasizing the importance of peace, stability and mutual respect. They reiterated their commitment to maintaining close diplomatic engagement and enhancing cooperation on issues of shared interest.

President Xi said China values its longstanding friendship with Bangladesh and is willing to work together to advance mutually beneficial cooperation across multiple sectors.

Commitment to stronger bilateral ties

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing confidence that enhanced collaboration would further strengthen Bangladesh-China relations and contribute to regional development and prosperity.

Senior officials from both governments attended the discussions, which formed part of Prime Minister Rahman’s official visit to China.
