Bangladeshi Minor Rescued from Sex Racket in Maharashtra; 12 Linked to Case

Mumbai: Maharashtra police have rescued a Bangladeshi minor girl who was subjected to three months of sexual abuse and exploitation across the state. At least 12 people connected to the trafficking network have been identified, and nine suspects, including two agents, are currently in custody.

    Racket Operating from Naigaon Exposed
The prostitution racket, run from Naigaon near Vasai, around 50 km from Mumbai, shocked the public with revelations that the minor was assaulted by over 200 men. The trafficking gang, which included female members, allegedly forged the victim’s documents to push her into the sex trade.

    Modus Operandi and Victim’s Ordeal
Assistant Commissioner of Police Madan Ballal from the Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate described the case as “serious and sensitive” due to the involvement of a 14-year-old. The victim fled her Bangladesh home after failing an exam, only to be lured to Kolkata by an acquaintance named Ruby. There, her age was falsified on documents before she was trafficked to Nadiad, Gujarat, where she endured rape, blackmail, and coercion into prostitution. She was later sold to multiple operators in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

    Rescue Operation and Ongoing Probe
The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), led by Commissioner Niket Kaushik and supported by NGOs Exodus Road India Foundation and Harmony Foundation, conducted the July 26 operation in Naigaon to free the girl. She is now under the care of the Child Welfare Committee in Ulhasnagar, Thane, receiving counselling. Investigators say 12 Bangladeshi agents are linked to the racket, with efforts ongoing to track down the remaining accused, including customers.

    Authorities Vow to Dismantle Network
Police are treating the case with extreme caution due to the victim’s vulnerability. The MBVV police have pledged to dismantle the trafficking ring entirely and bring all those involved to justice.
