Bangladeshi National Running Clinic-Like Shop Under Fake Identity Arrested in Lucknow

Lucknow: A Bangladeshi citizen allegedly living illegally in Lucknow under a fake identity has been arrested by the Lucknow Police from the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area. According to officials, the accused had embedded himself within the local population by operating a clinic-like shop and using forged Indian identity documents.

Police identified the accused as Arup Bakshi, originally a resident of Narail district in Bangladesh. Officials said he was arrested near the Vipassana Meditation Centre flyover on Kisan Path during a police operation carried out in the BKT police station area.

Fake Aadhaar Card, Mobile Phone and Cash Recovered

According to the Lucknow Police Media Cell, the accused was allegedly living illegally in India after obtaining Indian identity documents and a passport using fake papers. During the arrest, police recovered a fake Aadhaar card, an Oppo mobile phone and ₹300 in cash from his possession.

Police said the accused had been operating a clinic-like setup in the area where he allegedly provided medicines and treatment to local residents.

A case has been registered against him under relevant sections related to fraud and the Foreigners Act at the BKT police station. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to staying illegally in India and obtaining forged documents.

Illegal Immigration and Aadhaar Misuse Under Scrutiny

The arrest comes amid growing concerns over the alleged misuse of Aadhaar and forged documents by illegal immigrants. Recently, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed before the Supreme Court seeking directions that Aadhaar should only be treated as proof of identity and not as proof of citizenship, domicile or date of birth.

The plea alleged that infiltrators and illegal immigrants were obtaining Aadhaar cards through weak verification systems and later using them to secure other documents, including voter identity cards.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police had earlier launched a major crackdown against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and detained several foreign nationals accused of using fake visa arrangements and forged documents.
