AGTF Arrests Four After Encounter Near Sirhind Canal in Bathinda

Bathinda’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has achieved a major success under the ongoing campaign against criminals and gangsters in Punjab. After a sharp encounter between the police and miscreants near the Sirhind Canal, the police have arrested four accused. During this cross-firing, one of the accused has been injured by a bullet, who has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

According to the information received from the police, these arrested accused were wanted in the case of a violent clash between two groups in Rajgarh village of Bathinda on Monday. One person was seriously injured in that incident, while the police had detained three people on the spot. In connection with this incident, an FIR was registered under the relevant sections at Bhagta Bhaika police station, after which these accused were absconding.

Shots were fired at the pursuing AGTF team.

Giving information about the incident, Raghvir Singh, in-charge of Police Station Cantt, said that the team of Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) was constantly chasing these absconding accused. Today, when these four accused were passing through the area on two motorcycles, the police surrounded them. Seeing themselves surrounded, the accused started firing on the police team. In this audacious firing by the miscreants, the police vehicles have also escaped unscathed, on which the bullet marks can be clearly seen.

One injured in retaliation, weapon recovered

The police also retaliated in self-defence, in which one of the accused sustained bullet injuries. After this, the police team showed promptness and nabbed the four accused on the spot. The police have recovered two illegal pistols and a huge quantity of cartridges from the spot. At present, the police have seized the motorcycles and weapons of the accused and the whole matter is being investigated intensively to find out which gangsters are linked to them.
