Bengaluru: With the 2025/26 domestic season set to begin on August 28 with the Duleep Trophy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently organised a fast bowling development camp at its Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
22 Pacers Undergo Intensive Training
A total of 22 fast bowlers participated in the camp, including 14 targeted pacers and eight Under-19 bowlers. The program focused on multiple aspects of fast bowling, combining skill development, fitness assessment, and tactical training.
According to the BCCI, the initiative has been a key part of its long-term plan to build a strong pool of fast bowlers for domestic and international cricket.
Training Under Troy Cooley
The bowlers underwent fitness evaluations and skill-enhancement sessions under the guidance of Troy Cooley, BCCI’s Fast Bowling Coach at the CoE. The training was designed to ensure comprehensive preparation ahead of the upcoming season.
In a video shared on BCCI’s official X account, players like Harshit Rana and Anshul Kamboj—who recently made his Test debut in England—were seen going through drills.
Key Players in Attendance
Other participants included Simarjeet Singh, Tushar Deshpande, Suryansh Shedge, Gurjapneet Singh, and Yudhvir Singh Charak. Interestingly, Suyash Sharma and Shreyas Iyer were also spotted at the CoE, likely as part of routine fitness testing.
Reports also suggest that Vijaykumar Vyshak, Khaleel Ahmed, Yash Thakur, and Raj Bawa attended the camp.
Strengthening India’s Fast Bowling Pool
The larger goal of the camp is to expand India’s frontline fast bowling resources and provide additional support to senior pacers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami in international cricket.
The initiative is expected to play a vital role in grooming young fast bowlers and ensuring India maintains a strong pace attack across formats.
