Jaipur Sees Highest Turnout; BCR Elections Re-Polling Begins at Four Centres

Jaipur: Re-polling for the Bar Council of Rajasthan (BCR) elections is currently underway at four locations. Voting commenced at 8:00 AM this morning at all these sites. Voting had been cancelled on April 22 at the Rajasthan High Court (Jaipur Bench), Jaipur Sessions Court, Jodhpur Sessions Court, and Raisinghnagar in Sri Ganganagar due to administrative irregularities and chaos.

Consequently, re-polling is being conducted at all these locations today.

The High Court (Jaipur Bench) has the highest number of registered voters, totaling 14,781. During the previous round, allegations of rigging and mismanagement had surfaced at this location, leading to the cancellation of the voting process. To prevent a recurrence of such a situation, two separate booths have been set up for voting here.

Complete Ban on Mobile Phones

Learning lessons from the incidents in the previous round, a high-powered election committee has deployed a heavy police presence outside all four polling centres. Campaigning is strictly prohibited within a 200-meter radius of the polling centers.

Mobile phones, cameras, and other electronic devices are banned. Only authorized voters are being granted entry into the booths. At the High Court (Jaipur Bench), voters are being allowed entry exclusively through Gate No. 3.

Furthermore, a special committee comprising 20 senior advocates has been constituted to assist in the overall conduct of the election.

Robust Security Arrangements

Strict security measures have been put in place for the re-polling at the Rajasthan High Court. In view of the administrative chaos witnessed previously, approximately 350 police personnel have been deployed within the High Court premises for this election. For security and surveillance, 80 CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the entire premises, while arrangements have also been made for live telecasts via five LED screens.
