Bengaluru Shocker: Woman Kidnapped, Assaulted and Filmed Over ₹1.5 Lakh Loan; 2 Women Among 3 Held

Bengaluru: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped and held hostage for two days, assaulted and forced to partially undress and filmed over a loan repayment dispute, police said. The accused allegedly threatened to circulate the obscene video if she failed to repay the money.

Woman Allegedly Kidnapped Over ₹1.5 Lakh Loan

According to the complaint, the woman had borrowed ₹50,000 from Nazath on a weekly repayment arrangement and another ₹1 lakh from Reshma Banu around two years ago. She later struggled to make the repayments due to financial difficulties.

On August 27, the woman was allegedly called to Nazath’s house in Metro Layout on the pretext of some work. Reshma Banu, her husband Suhail and two other persons allegedly entered the house and assaulted the woman with their hands and a knife.

The accused allegedly damaged her mobile phone and forcibly took her and her young son in an autorickshaw to Kumbalgodu.

Woman Allegedly Assaulted, Filmed and Threatened

The woman was allegedly beaten with a stick and confined at a location in Kumbalgodu. The accused allegedly demanded ₹11 lakh, including interest, over the loan dispute.

Police said the woman was allegedly forced to partially undress and was filmed. The accused allegedly threatened to circulate the video if she did not pay the demanded amount.

She was also allegedly taken to a lawyer near a market and made to sign certain documents before being taken back to Kumbalgodu.

Three Held, Search On for Other Suspects

The woman eventually alerted police by using the pretext of going to the toilet. Police rescued her and brought her to Chandra Layout Police Station.

An FIR was registered against Nazath, Reshma Banu, Suhail, Saif and others. Three accused, including two women, have been arrested, while the remaining suspects are absconding, police said.

The investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and the role of each accused.
