CM Mann Targets Dera Beas Chief Without Naming Him in Cryptic Post

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday appeared to take an indirect swipe at the head of Dera Beas, Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon, without mentioning him by name.

The Chief Minister shared a cryptic post in Punjabi on social media on Tuesday morning, which political analysts viewed as a veiled reference to the ongoing controversy. The message, written in Gurmukhi, suggested concern over situations where personal influence could overshadow the judicial process.

His X post, written in Gurmukhi Punjabi , reads

ਅਦਾਲਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਓਥੇ ਰੱਬ ਰਾਖਾ
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤੀ ਹੀ ਜੱਜ ਬਣ ਜਾਣ”

Mann’s post came a day after the Dera Beas chief publicly expressed support for senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who is currently lodged in Nabha Jail.

On Monday, Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon paid a surprise visit to Nabha Jail to meet Majithia. Speaking to the media after the meeting, he described Majithia as a close friend and said the visit was intentional.

Commenting on the cases registered against the SAD leader, the Dera chief termed them “false and baseless” based on his personal assessment, while adding that investigative agencies and the government should be allowed to function independently and strictly in accordance with the law.

Against this backdrop, Mann’s social media post was widely interpreted as an indirect reaction to the Dera chief’s remarks and jail visit.
