Punjab government withdraws Harbhajan Singh security; MP calls it politics

The Punjab government has withdrawn the security of Rajya Sabha MP and cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who is leaving the Aam Aadmi Party. Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh himself has not announced leaving the party, but Raghav Chadha had claimed that he was with him.

Sources say that the party high command was in constant contact with Harbhajan Singh, but he was not responding. After this, the party withdrew Punjab Police security on Sunday.

On April 24, 2026, three MPs from Punjab who went to the Rajya Sabha from AAP joined the BJP, while it was claimed that three others had also joined the BJP. The name of former Jalandhar cricketer Harbhajan Singh was also included in this. He had become a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab with AAP in March 2022.

Harbhajan had Z-plus security.
Former cricketer and AAP’s Rajya Sabha member from Punjab, Harbhajan Singh, had Z-plus category security provided to him by the Punjab government. On Saturday, protests took place outside his Jalandhar residence following reports in April 2026 of him leaving AAP and joining BJP.
