Security issue of Nangal Dam and Bhakra Dam, CISF teams start reaching Nangal

CISF teams have started arriving in Nangal for security and deployment of the Nangal Dam and Bhakra Dam. CISF will officially join the security of Bhakra Dam from August 31. Currently, the BBMB community center and some quarters have been renovated and prepared for the stay of CISF personnel, and the teams that arrived yesterday were accommodated at the community center.

Today, a contingent of 200 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel has started arriving in Nangal township of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). These personnel will be officially deployed in the Bhakra Dam from August 31.

This move is being considered a major change in the security of an important hydroelectric and irrigation project like the Bhakra Dam. Opposition parties in Punjab have expressed their displeasure over this. So far, 10 to 15 CISF personnel have reached Nangal, and the remaining personnel are expected to reach by evening.

It is noteworthy that the main opposition parties of Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress, have strongly condemned the state government and the central government regarding the security of these two dams and the deployment of CISF, and the state government has also been surrounded. On the other hand, the state government says that the center wants to take control of BBMB and dams through CISF, so all this action has been deliberately taken by the center under a vindictive policy.
