Bihar’s Bhojpur: Two Children Killed, Grandfather Injured After Dilapidated Wall Collapses

Patna: A tragic incident in Bihiya area of Bihar’s Bhojpur district claimed the lives of two young cousins after an old boundary wall collapsed on Saturday. Their grandfather was also injured in the accident.

The incident took place in Ward No. 6 of Bihiya Nagar Parishad, under the jurisdiction of Bihiya Police Station. The deceased children were identified as Shivansh Kumar (3), son of Sajan Rajak, and Ankit Kumar (2.5 years), son of Rahul Rajak.

Children buried under debris after wall collapse

According to police, the two children were playing outside their house when the weakened boundary wall suddenly collapsed, trapping them under the debris. Their grandfather Chhotak Rajak, who was nearby, also sustained injuries while trying to respond to the incident.

After hearing the loud crash, local residents rushed to the spot and began removing the debris to rescue the victims. Shivansh died at the scene, while Ankit was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where doctors later declared him dead.

The injured grandfather is currently receiving medical treatment.

Police begin investigation, compensation process initiated

Following the incident, Bihiya Police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the wall collapse. The bodies of the children were sent for post-mortem examination.

Authorities have informed the Bhojpur District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, who have directed officials to take necessary action. The process of providing compensation to the affected families has also been initiated.

The deaths have left the neighbourhood in mourning, with relatives and local residents gathering at the victims’ home to offer condolences. Local leaders also visited the families and expressed support following the tragic loss.
