Big ACB Raid at Tirumala: 2 Kg Gold, 6.5 Kg Silver & ₹12.5 Lakh Cash Seized

Tirupati: The Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a disproportionate assets case against Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Deputy Executive Officer Mendu Loknatham. Raids at several locations linked to the official have revealed assets and valuables worth approximately ₹5 crore.

The case was registered on Wednesday under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The ACB took this action based on information shared by the CBI. The CBI had provided information regarding the assets of some TTD employees to the ACB during its investigation into the Tirupati laddu adulteration case.

Simultaneous Raids at Multiple Locations

Seven teams of the ACB, led by DSP Srinivas Rao, conducted simultaneous searches at Loknatham’s home in Peddakapu Layout, his office in Tirumala, a guest house, and premises belonging to his relatives, starting around 6 a.m.

His bank lockers at the SBI branch in Tirupati were also searched. Officials examined property documents, financial records, gold, cash, and other valuables. This action was carried out based on a search warrant issued by the Nellore ACB court.

Multiple Properties in the Names of Wife and Son

According to the ACB, documents related to a house, two house plots, and a building in the name of Loknatham’s wife were recovered during the search. A plot in Padiredu Aranyam village in Vadamalapeta Mandal and another plot in the name of his son in Srinivas Nagar were also discovered. Four fixed deposits in the name of the officer and his son were also found.

Documents of joint property worth approximately ₹31.98 lakh, 2 kg of gold, ₹12.5 lakh in cash, and 6.5 kg of silver were reportedly recovered from the relatives’ home.

The full picture will emerge after the investigation

The ACB’s initial investigation has estimated the value of the properties at approximately ₹5 crore. However, officials say the market value of these properties could be many times higher.

ACB chief Atul Singh said that the true value of the properties and the full details of the seized items will be revealed after investigation and verification.

Lokanantham joined the TTD as a junior assistant in 1989. He subsequently held positions as a senior assistant, superintendent, and assistant executive officer, and later became deputy executive officer.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, and the allegations against the officer are yet to be proven through legal process.
