New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met President Droupadi Murmu and tendered his resignation ahead of the swearing-in ceremony on June 8. The PM also recommended the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha.

In a post shared by the President of India on X, it was said that PM along with the council of ministers tendered his resignation. President Murmu recommended him to continue in office till the new government is formed.
The post said, “Prime Minister @narendramodi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Prime Minister tendered his resignation along with the Union Council of Ministers. The President accepted the resignation and requested the Prime Minister and the Union Council of Ministers to continue in office till the new Government is formed.”
The results of Lok Sabha elections are out. BJP got 240 seats, which is 32 seats less than the majority figure. However, NDA crossed the majority figure with 292 seats.
PM Modi is likely to take oath as Prime Minister for the third time on June 8. On June 7, all the NDA MPs will meet in the Central Hall of Parliament. JDU spokesperson KC Tyagi has given information about the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Council of Ministers is meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi on Wednesday (June 5). Earlier, a cabinet meeting was held in which the government passed a motion of thanks for the victory for the third time. The meeting recommended dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha.
There will also be a meeting of NDA constituents at 4 pm today. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu will be present in it. PM Modi had called both of them yesterday and asked them to attend the meeting.
After the NDA meeting, all the allies can submit a letter of support to President Draupadi Murmu in favor of PM Modi today itself. After this, PM Modi will submit his resignation to the President. Then they will stake claim to form the new government.
Chandrababu’s TDP has become the second largest party with 15 seats and Nitish’s JDU has become the third largest party in NDA with 12 seats. Both parties are important for the BJP at this time. It is difficult for the BJP to form the government without them.
