Big decision of High Court, ban on construction work and purchase and sale of land in 16 villages of Mohali, Read to know why

The Punjab-Haryana High Court has imposed a complete ban on any kind of construction work and land acquisition in 16 villages of Mohali. The court ordered the DC Mohali to strictly implement these orders.

The High Court, while reprimanding the Punjab government, was asked why the Supreme Court had ordered the demarcation of forest land in this area in 2014. According to the Supreme Court’s orders, first the demarcation of forest land will be done and only then permission will be given for construction.

The High Court orders the Chief Secretary of Punjab

The Chief Secretary of Punjab has been ordered to immediately constitute a team of forest and revenue officers to examine the old revenue records and determine the area of forest land at the time of implementation of the 1980 Act. This team will be headed by the Chief Conservator of Forests, along with an officer of the level of Principal Secretary of the Punjab government.

High Court seeks copy of revenue records of lands within a week
The Chief Secretary has also been ordered to make a photocopy of the complete revenue records of all lands in these villages and submit it to the Registrar General of the High Court within a week.

    Next hearing on September 14

At the end of its order, a bench of Acting Chief Justice Ashwani Mishra and Justice Rohit Kapoor of the High Court directed the Deputy Commissioner of Mohali to appear before the High Court with all these records on the next hearing on September 14.

In which villages of Mohali is the ban imposed

The villages in which the High Court has imposed a ban on construction and land purchase include Karodan, Nadda, Parch, Siankh, Majrian, Choti Badi Nagal, Parol, Siswan, Palanpur, Saini Majra, Dulwan, Burana, Gochar, Mirzapur, Tarapur and Sultanpur.

What is the whole issue with the land of the villages of Mohali?

It is worth noting that in 2014, the Supreme Court had ordered the Punjab government to mark the land here as forest land. At that time, the Supreme Court had said that this entire area is very sensitive from an environmental point of view. But since then, the forest land of all these villages in this area has not been marked. A public interest litigation is pending in the High Court regarding a similar matter.
