The employees of the BIT department working under Punjab Roadways and PRTC have announced to go on strike at 12 noon today over their long-pending demands. Due to this strike, services at many bus stands in Punjab are likely to be affected.

Employee leaders say that despite repeated assurances by the government, no action has been taken on their demands, like a regularization policy, payment of arrears of salaries, new recruitments, and reintroduction of pension. Due to this, they have been forced to take the path of a strike.

Employees’ union officials have warned that if the government does not hold a meeting immediately and take a serious decision on the demands, the struggle will be further intensified. Protests will also be held at depots and bus stands during the strike.

On the other hand, passengers may also face a lot of difficulties due to the strike, and people will have to depend on private transport.
