This decision was taken by the PRTC contract employees after the assurance given by the Punjab government regarding the resolution of the demands and a meeting.
The leaders of Punjab Roadways Punbus/PRTC Contract Workers Union Punjab 25/11 informed that they are requesting all the depot committees and all the worker colleagues. In view of the struggle planned by the organization, including the three-day strike on May 25, 26, 27, 2026 including the protest at the Chief Minister’s residence, a panel meeting has been fixed with the Honorable Finance Minister and Transport Minister Punjab on June 2, 2026 and they have assured to resolve the demands.
In the meeting, discussions will be held on the demands of making the raw employees permanent, ending the contractual system, implementing equal pay for equal work and implementing the accepted demands, including the kilometer scheme, closing private buses and replacing them with department-owned buses.
Also, as per the decision taken in the meeting held with the Transport Minister on 18 May 2026, it was agreed to cancel the papers of the comrades who were in jail for the last 6 months due to illegal cases during the struggle and release them on priority basis, which is under process, keeping in mind which the organization has postponed the strike on 25,26,27 May 2026.
The leaders said that the union has decided that if the departments do not meet with each other before the June 2 meeting on the demands of the organization and resolve the demands of the employees by consensus in the meeting, and if the department does not present the records correctly or makes excuses, and does not release the jailed colleagues, then immediately after the meeting, the state committee will take a stand on the postponed actions including strike and dharna and wage a fierce struggle.
