Bihar Sets ₹70,000-Crore Education Budget, Model Schools in All Blocks

Bihar : Education Minister Sunil Kumar on Monday presented a detailed outline of the state government’s education reform plans. He stated that a historic amount of over ₹70,000 crore has been allocated to the Education Department in the 2025-26 budget. He described this as a major transformation in the field of education under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Model schools in every block, modernization of colleges

The minister said that education has been given special importance in the “Saat Nischay-3” approved by the cabinet. Under this plan, a model school will be established in every block of the state.

Additionally, the state’s degree colleges and older institutions will be equipped with modern facilities to improve educational quality and infrastructure.

He stated that in the coming years, special attention will be given to research, innovation, and skill development to prepare students for future challenges.

Teacher numbers exceed 2.27 lakh, dropout rate only 1%

Sunil Kumar stated that there was once a severe teacher shortage in Bihar, but due to large-scale recruitment, the number of teachers and principals has now exceeded 2.27 lakh.

More appointments will be made under TRE-4.

He stated that the school dropout rate has decreased to 1%, which is a significant achievement.

Under the state government’s scholarship schemes, funds have been transferred directly to the accounts of 4,663 students.

The Mid-Day Meal Scheme is also being strengthened, and the honorarium for cooks has been increased.

Smart classrooms, timely delivery of books, emphasis on girls’ education

The Education Minister stated that the primary focus is now on teacher training and capacity building. Regular workshops and training programs are being organized to improve the quality of teaching.

Smart classrooms, tablets for teachers, and bilingual textbooks are being provided in schools.

Textbooks have been distributed to 11.9 million students so far.

Efforts to improve higher education are also underway, and the problem of delayed academic sessions has almost been resolved in some universities.

Regarding the examination process, the Minister stated that the results of Matriculation and Intermediate have been satisfactory, and strict action is being taken against teachers and staff who are negligent.

Finally, Sunil Kumar said that the government is moving rapidly towards building a progressive and developed Bihar and that all the goals of “Saat Nischay-3” will be achieved in the coming years.
