‘False accusations against my child’: Mother of accused denies conversion allegations in Bijnor case

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Following the registration of a criminal case regarding the alleged religious conversion of a minor boy from Bijnor in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara, the mother of accused youth Waseem has rejected the allegations, stating that her son is being falsely implicated.

Defending her son against the police complaint filed by the minor’s family, Mohammadi said the claims are baseless and that her son had no regular contact with the victim over the last two and a half years.

“…All this is wrong. My child would never do something like this… These are false accusations against my child… Vishal wasn’t with my son for the last 2.5 years,” she told ANI.

Complaint filed by victim’s family

The statement comes after Krishna Kumar, father of the 17-year-old boy from Bahadarpur village in Bijnor, lodged a complaint alleging that his son was taken to Kupwara to learn the salon trade and was later induced into changing his faith.

He claimed the matter came to light through an Instagram video posted on May 15, after which the family approached authorities for legal action.

Police register case, investigation underway

According to Circle Officer Sangram Singh, a case has been registered at Kotwali Nagar Police Station under relevant legal sections, and investigations are underway.

He said the complaint alleged that the minor travelled to Kupwara with Waseem several years ago to learn barbering skills, and the family later learned about the alleged conversion through social media.

Family says they trusted accused due to long association

The victim’s father said Waseem had been visiting their home for years due to a professional association, and the family initially had no suspicion of wrongdoing.

He added that the family became aware of the alleged conversion after seeing a video on Instagram, following which they filed a formal complaint with authorities.

J&K Police also register FIR

Following the complaint, Jammu and Kashmir Police also registered an FIR in Kupwara and launched an investigation. Authorities have urged the public not to spread unverified claims and to maintain communal harmony.
