Bikaji Founder Shiv Ratan Agarwal Passes Away, Breathes His Last at the Age of 75

New Delhi: Shiv Ratan Agarwal, founder of the country’s renowned snack company Bikaji Foods International, passed away on Thursday at the age of 75. The company confirmed this in an official filing, calling it the end of an era.

Admitted to Hospital After Falling Unwell

According to reports, Agarwal suddenly felt unwell and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. He breathed his last during treatment. He was reportedly staying in Chennai recently for his wife’s treatment.

Traditional Flavors Turned into a Global Brand

Shiv Ratan Agarwal is known for bringing global recognition to traditional Indian snacks. Under his leadership, Bikaji evolved from a regional brand in Rajasthan to an international presence. The company is today known for its Bhujia, namkeen, sweets, and ready-to-eat products.

Had a deep connection to the Haldiram family

Aggarwal belonged to the renowned Haldiram family and was the grandson of Gangabishan ‘Haldiram’, the founder of Bhujia. While other family members continued the family business, he chose a different path and started his own business in 1986. Later, in 1993, he launched the ‘Bikaji’ brand, named after Bikaner’s founder, Rao Bika.

Political leaders expressed grief

Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, expressed deep grief over his demise. He said that through Bikaji, Agarwal brought global recognition to Bikaneri Bhujia and his passing is an irreparable loss to the industry.
