Biker dies after falling into 20-foot deep pit in Jalandhar

A bike rider died after falling into a pothole on the road from Jalandhar to Jandu Singha. This pothole had been dug by a bridge construction company near a pillar. The bike fell into the approximately 20-foot-deep pit around 11:30 pm. A laborer sleeping nearby heard the noise but did not get up to help.

The biker writhed in pain for several hours and died inside the pit. Shopkeepers discovered the body and bike in the morning and informed the police. A shop owner near the pothole said that after opening his shop, he suddenly looked towards the pothole and saw the bike inside.

When asked around about how the bike got inside, the laborer said that the biker had fallen in the night. “We heard a noise but thought he had escaped.” When they looked inside the pothole again, they found the body lying there. The biker’s eye had been gouged out by the iron rod. He had headphones, but his mobile phone and wallet were missing.

The Jalandhar police, who arrived at the scene, said an investigation is underway. The body was removed from the pit and taken to the Civil Hospital. The young man has not yet been identified. Information has been provided to nearby police stations for identification.

Police also suspect robbery

Headphones and bike keys were recovered from the deceased young man, but his mobile phone and wallet are missing. Police, passersby, and eyewitnesses who arrived at the scene also suspect robbery.

People said that instead of helping the suffering young man, someone stole his valuables. People say that if an ambulance had been called in time, the young man’s life could have been saved.
