No decision yet on Bikram Majithia’s bail; Mohali Court to resume hearing tomorrow

Chandigarh, August 7: The bail plea of former Punjab minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia was heard for about two hours in Mohali court today. There was a long debate between the lawyers of both the sides. But even today no decision has been taken in this case.

The court has decided to hear the case again tomorrow. Majithia was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau from his house in Amritsar on June 25 in the disproportionate assets case. He is currently lodged in New Nabha Jail.

Hearing held for the 7th time today

The hearing on Bikram Singh Majithia’s bail plea has been going on for several days. Today was the 7th hearing. Both sides presented lengthy arguments. Vigilance says that our teams have visited Himachal and Uttar Pradesh. We have many facts.

However, Majithia’s lawyers say that the government lawyers always try to postpone the hearing. The government’s case has no strength.

Majithia was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau from Amritsar on June 25. Earlier in 2021, during the tenure of the Congress government, a case was also registered against Majithia under the NDPS Act. In which till now the statements of 6 people including former DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyay and former Deputy Director of ED have been recorded.

His former PA is also among those who have recorded statements against him. He has now joined the Aam Aadmi Party. The government says that it has solid evidence, while Majithia’s lawyer is calling it a politically motivated and baseless case.
