Bikram Singh Majithia’s bail plea to be heard today amid ongoing vigilance probe

Chandigarh, August 11: The bail plea of former Punjab minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia will be heard again today on August 11. During this, the lawyers of both the sides will argue.

The hearing, which has been going on for about a month, is still not over. Majithia’s lawyers say that this case is a political drama and there is no concrete evidence in it.

The Vigilance Bureau had arrested Majithia from his house in Amritsar on June 25 in a disproportionate assets case. This time the scope of investigation has spread to Himachal, Delhi and UP.

It has been claimed that he has land in Himachal, while it has been learnt that he has a sugar mill in Gorakhpur, UP and a farm house in Delhi. The material recovered from these places will be made a part of the challan.

Also, statements of six people have been recorded in the investigation, including former DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyay, during whose tenure an NDPS case was registered against Majithia. Statements of former ED deputy director Niranjan Singh and four others, who were previously close to Majithia, have also been taken.

This time, his bail was not granted. His sister, Bathinda MP and Badal family’s daughter-in-law Harsimrat Kaur Badal, had come to the jail to tie a rakhi to him. However, Akali leaders and Majithia’s lawyers allege that no one is being allowed to meet him in jail.

Majithia’s wife is handling the constituency alone .

He is currently lodged in New Nabha jail. Earlier Majithia himself used to look after his constituency Majithia and listen to people’s complaints, but now his wife and MLA Ganiv Kaur has taken over the charge. She is visiting the constituency and meeting people and trying to solve every problem.

CM is targeting in every program

CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal attack Bikram Singh Majithia in every program in Punjab. They go from calling his family close to the British to calling Majithia a drug smuggler. At the same time, in a program held in Sangrur yesterday, it was said that no one will get pizza, burger or garlic bread in the jail, they will have to eat the jail food.
