Bilaspur: Two cars collide near Tunnel 1 of Kiratpur-Manali four-lane; driver killed, six injured

A young man was killed and six others were injured when two cars collided at the Scissors Turn near Tunnel No. 1 on the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane on Wednesday morning. The collision occurred between two vehicles with Chandigarh and UP registration numbers.

According to reports, the Chandigarh-registered vehicle was carrying six people, including the driver. All passengers were injured in the collision and were rushed to AIIMS Kothipura by ambulance with the help of locals and police. The driver, Shubham (25), son of Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Chakka Jogindernagar village, was seriously injured in the collision. Doctors later declared him dead at the hospital.

Four people were in the UP-registered car, who are reported to be safe and have not suffered any serious injuries. Upon receiving information about the accident, a team from the Tourism and Traffic Police Station, Bhaged, arrived at the scene and removed both vehicles to the side of the road and restored traffic.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Additional Superintendent of Police, Shiv Chaudhary, stated that traffic on the route was affected for some time after the accident. According to police, further action is being taken as per the rules.
