Bill Gates to Make Cameo Appearance in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2

Mumbai: The much-talked-about sequel of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi continues to grab attention—this time for an unexpected international cameo. According to an ETimes exclusive, business magnate and philanthropist Bill Gates will make a special appearance via video call with Smriti Irani, who reprises her iconic role as Tulsi Virani.

The sequence, spread across three episodes, is said to focus on maternal and newborn health awareness, aligning with the work of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

“Since the Foundation actively works on these causes, the collaboration came about naturally. Smriti wanted to use the show as a platform to promote health and social awareness through storytelling,” said a source close to the production.

    Nostalgia Meets Social Messaging

The show, which premiered on July 29, 2025, has been blending emotional storytelling with social themes, while occasionally reuniting familiar faces from Indian television’s golden era.

Recently, Sakshi Tanwar and Kiran Karmarkar made a special appearance as Parvati and Om from Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, rekindling nostalgia for longtime fans as they shared the screen with Tulsi once again.

Smriti Irani’s Focus on Real Issues

Since returning to the small screen, Smriti Irani has been actively weaving social causes into the show’s narrative.

“We took up the issue of ageing and body shaming because these are fundamental challenges women deal with every day. For me, as someone who has been part of the creative industry, it was important to highlight them,” Irani said.

The storyline has also tackled complex subjects like false domestic violence accusations and gender bias, pushing the envelope for mainstream television.

Beyond television, Irani continues to advocate for women’s empowerment and Indian handloom traditions. At the Bombay Times Fashion Week, she walked the ramp in a Gaurang Shah handloom saree, remarking,

“A saree is never limiting for a woman—it’s graceful, dignified, and carries a piece of our history.”

A New Era for Indian TV

With the inclusion of global icons like Bill Gates and progressive storytelling, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 seems to be redefining prime-time entertainment—combining nostalgia, social awareness, and international collaboration in a way Indian television has rarely seen before.
