BJP appoints new chiefs for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Tripura units

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced a major organisational reshuffle, appointing new state unit presidents in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Tripura as part of its strategy to strengthen the party structure ahead of upcoming elections.

Under the latest changes, senior leader Harsh Malhotra has been appointed as the new president of the Delhi BJP unit, while Archana Gupta will head the party organisation in Haryana. In Punjab, the BJP has entrusted veteran leader Kewal Singh Dhillon with the responsibility of leading the state unit, and Abhishek Debroy has been named the new BJP chief in Tripura.

In Delhi, Harsh Malhotra’s appointment is seen as part of the BJP’s effort to strengthen its organisational network in the national capital.

Archana Gupta’s elevation in Haryana is expected to boost the party’s outreach among women and grassroots workers.

In Punjab, Kewal Singh Dhillon’s appointment is being viewed as a move to strengthen the BJP’s Sikh outreach and expand its base in the state ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Abhishek Debroy’s appointment in Tripura signals the party’s focus on maintaining its political momentum in the northeastern state.

The reshuffle is being viewed as an important organisational move aimed at energising party workers, strengthening grassroots outreach and preparing the BJP for future electoral battles in key states. Party sources said the leadership changes were made after internal discussions focused on improving coordination, expanding voter outreach and reinforcing booth-level management.

Political observers believe the BJP is attempting to balance experience and regional representation through the latest appointments. The inclusion of leaders with varied political and organisational backgrounds is expected to help the party sharpen its strategy in different regions.

Following the announcement, BJP leaders and workers across the four states congratulated the newly appointed presidents and expressed confidence that the organisational changes would further strengthen the party’s position at the state level.
