Jalandhar: As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state-level public awareness campaign on the Viksit Bharat G Ram G Scheme, a public interaction rally was organised today at village Foldiwal in Jalandhar district. Addressing the gathering, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress, alleging that their opposition to the new employment law stems from fear of losing corrupt earnings.
Jakhar said the new law introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is designed with the welfare of poor labourers at its core. “The scheme ensures that money meant for labourers reaches directly into their bank accounts, eliminating the role of contractors and middlemen,” he said, adding that the number of guaranteed employment days has been increased from 100 to 125.

‘Pro-Poor Scheme Being Opposed for Political Reasons’
The BJP state president accused AAP and Congress of opposing the scheme purely for political reasons, claiming they were uncomfortable with reforms that curb corruption. He also criticised both parties for objecting to the inclusion of the word “Ram” in the scheme’s name, despite projecting themselves as secular.
Referring to remarks allegedly made by former Delhi Chief Minister and senior AAP leader Atishi in the Delhi Assembly, Jakhar condemned what he termed as objectionable language used for Guru Sahibs, stating that it had exposed the “true face” of the party.
Demand for Impartial Probe Into CM Video
Raising serious concerns, Jakhar demanded an impartial investigation into a video related to sacrilege that is currently circulating and allegedly involves Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said the probe should determine whether the video is genuine or AI-generated and must be conducted under the supervision of the High Court.
“If the video is found to be genuine, such a person has no moral right to remain Chief Minister,” Jakhar said, adding that a special session of the Punjab Assembly should be convened to discuss the matter.

Law and Order Situation ‘At Its Worst’
Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab, Jakhar claimed that nine murders had taken place in the last seven days, indicating a complete collapse of policing. He alleged that drug abuse has further increased and accused the AAP government of relying on publicity campaigns instead of taking concrete action.
Jakhar also criticised the Chief Minister for spending public money on advertisements in other states for political mileage, calling it an “open loot of the government treasury.”
BJP Only Hope for Punjab’s Future: Jakhar
Claiming growing public support for the BJP, Jakhar said the people of Punjab now see their future with the party. “Only the BJP can provide stable, transparent, and corruption-free governance and save Punjab’s youth from drugs and gun violence,” he asserted.
Earlier, BJP National Secretary and Punjab Co-incharge Narinder Raina said that AAP’s sole objective is to oppose Central government schemes. He pointed out that CAG reports had exposed corruption in MNREGA, necessitating reforms to ensure benefits reach the poor directly.
Senior BJP leaders including former minister Manoranjan Kalia, Sushil Rinku, Sarabjit Singh, Jagbir Singh Brar, and others were present at the rally.
Later, addressing a press conference, Jakhar questioned the Punjab government on how much money it had released from its own resources for village development over the past four years. He also termed the state’s health insurance scheme misleading, alleging that the actual coverage is far less than the promised ₹10 lakh.
