Jammu & Kashmir: The Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has announced a protest against the sale of liquor in the Valley. The party has demanded a complete ban on the sale and purchase of liquor in the Kashmir division.

March to CM Omar Abdullah’s residence

Party leaders and workers are scheduled to gather at Ram Munshibagh, Sonwar, at 10 a.m. on Friday. They will then march to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence in Gupkar.

Allegations leveled against the National Conference

The BJP has alleged that the ruling Jammu & Kashmir National Conference is defending and supporting liquor sales. The party says the protest is being held to arouse public sentiment against liquor sales in Kashmir.

What did Omar Abdullah say?

Recently, Omar Abdullah stated that the government is not planning to open new liquor shops in Jammu and Kashmir. However, he added that a complete ban on alcohol is not practical at this time. According to him, alcohol is already being consumed, and the question is whether it should be sold legally or illegally.
