Bharatiya Janata Party Releases Third List of Candidates for Pathankot Municipal Corporation Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released its third list of candidates for the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections in Pathankot, Punjab. The announcement was made under the approval of BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar and BJP Punjab Working President Ashwani Sharma.

The list includes three candidates who will contest from different wards of the Municipal Corporation Pathankot. The official notification was issued by party leader Rakesh Rathour, confirming the candidates selected by the party leadership for the civic body polls.

    Candidates Announced for Three Wards

According to the official list released by the party, Suman has been nominated from Ward No. 6, while Bindu Hans, wife of Rajnish Hans, has been selected from Ward No. 8 under the Scheduled Caste women category. Shilpa Sharma, wife of Vishal Sharma, has been fielded from Ward No. 16.

The BJP leadership stated that the selection process was carried out after discussions and internal consultations within the party. The candidates are expected to begin their election campaigns immediately as political activity intensifies in Pathankot ahead of the municipal elections.

BJP Focuses on Strengthening Local Presence

The release of the third list reflects BJP’s strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence in Punjab’s urban local bodies. The party has been actively preparing for the civic elections by announcing candidates in phases and mobilising local workers across districts.

Party leaders believe that municipal elections are important for expanding BJP’s support base in Punjab, especially in urban constituencies such as Pathankot, where the party has traditionally maintained a significant voter presence.

    Senior Leadership Approves Candidate List

The official notification mentioned that the list was released with the consent of Sunil Jakhar and due approval from Ashwani Sharma. Copies of the announcement were also forwarded to several senior BJP leaders, including National President Nitin Nabin, National Vice President Saudan Singh, National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh, and National Secretary Narender Raina, who also serves as BJP Punjab’s state co-incharge.

The involvement of senior leadership highlights the importance the party is placing on the upcoming municipal elections in Punjab.

    Political Activity Intensifies in Punjab

With civic body elections approaching, political parties in Punjab have accelerated preparations and candidate announcements. BJP, along with other major parties, is expected to intensify campaigning in the coming days through public meetings, door-to-door outreach, and local issue-based campaigns.

The municipal elections are likely to witness competitive contests across several wards, with parties aiming to strengthen their hold over urban governance and local administration.
