BJP Launches ‘Halla Bol’ Against AAP Govt in Ludhiana; to stage protest at DC Office

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has shifted into mission mode in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections. Following the defection of seven AAP MPs to the BJP, the party has adopted an aggressive stance against the state government.

Today, the BJP will stage a massive protest, Halla Bol, against the AAP government in Ludhiana. The BJP plans to hold a demonstration of dissent outside the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, cornering the Mann government on five key issues. These issues include allegations of corruption involving MLAs, the deteriorating law and order situation, and various other concerns.

In the wake of the seven AAP MPs joining the BJP, AAP volunteers have been staging protests outside the MPs’ residences; in response, BJP members—carrying party flags—are also gathering outside these same residences to counter the protests.

The Five Issues on Which the BJP Will Corner the AAP Government

1. “Gangster Raj” (Rule of Gangsters): BJP District President Rajneesh Dhiman noted that the opposition has been consistently cornering the government over the rising incidents of extortion and shootings in Punjab. During the protest, the Bharatiya Janata Party intends to specifically highlight the breakdown of law and order in the state and the issue of rampant gangsterism.

2. Corruption: Rajneesh Dhiman asserted that corruption has become pervasive within the government. He alleged that everyone from officials in government offices to the government’s own MLAs is embroiled in corrupt practices. Serious allegations have been leveled against government ministers and MLAs, yet the government has failed to take any punitive action.

3. Irregularities in Development Works: The District President claimed that, firstly, development projects are not even being undertaken in the city. Furthermore, regarding the projects that are underway, everyone from MLAs down to administrative officials is allegedly involved in irregularities. Tenders are being allocated amidst blatant irregularities, with contracts being awarded preferentially to political favorites.

4. Women’s Safety: Rajneesh Dhiman stated that the government is not taking the issue of women’s safety in the state seriously. He pointed out that crimes against women are on the rise, with incidents of public snatching occurring frequently. He added that the government has also failed to curb incidents involving the sexual exploitation of women.

5. Failure to Fulfill Election Promises: Rajneesh Dhiman argued that before forming the government, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had painted a picture of grand dreams and aspirations for the people of Punjab. However, he alleged that the government has failed to fulfill a single one of those promises. He stated that, regarding the promise to provide a monthly financial allowance to women, not a single woman has received these funds to date.

Party Workers to Gather at the DC Office by 11:00 AM

Anil Sareen, the State General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), announced that the party will stage a sit-in protest at the DC office starting at 11:00 AM today and will raise slogans against the AAP government. He informed that all senior BJP leaders will participate in this demonstration. He has appealed to party workers to turn out in large numbers to join this protest.
