BJP Questions Rahul Gandhi’s Punjab Visit, Asks If He Will Visit Faridkot Over Paper Leak Row

Chandigarh: The schedule for Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s proposed Punjab visit is likely to be announced soon. Ahead of his visit, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon questioned whether Gandhi would visit Faridkot over the alleged paper leak issue.

Dhillon said Rahul Gandhi had visited Jharkhand, where the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government is in power, but did not visit the site related to the issue there. He also referred to Gandhi’s participation in protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

“Now, Rahul Gandhi is coming to Punjab. A paper leak has occurred in Faridkot; will he go there?” Dhillon asked.

BJP Seeks Account of Action on Paper Leaks

Dhillon alleged that six paper leaks had occurred in Punjab under the Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal-led government and questioned what action had been taken in these cases.

He also questioned the alleged “double standards” of the AAP leadership, asking whether Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal would visit Jharkhand in the same manner as they had visited Jantar Mantar.

Govt Says It Was High-Tech Cheating

The issue was raised during the monsoon session of the Punjab Assembly, held from August 3 to August 10.

During the session, the Aam Aadmi Party government targeted the Centre over the NEET paper leak and ethanol-blended petrol issues, while the opposition raised the matter of an alleged pharmacy paper leak.

The government, however, clarified that the Faridkot case was not a paper leak but an instance of high-tech cheating.

According to the government, the gang involved in the alleged cheating was apprehended within 15 minutes of the examination beginning. The government described the prompt action as a major step in tackling the incident.
