Black Scorpio collides with two Zomato delivery riders on Dabda Chowk flyover; one dead, one injured after being dragged about 100 metres

Hissar: Late last night around 1:00 AM, a black Scorpio was involved in a fatal accident on Hisar’s Dabra Chowk flyover, hitting a young motorcyclist and dragging the bike for nearly 100 meters.

The deceased has been identified as a Zomato delivery rider who was passing over the flyover late at night. Immediately after the incident, the occupant of the Scorpio fled the scene in the direction of Camp Chowk. The police have deposited the body in the mortuary at the Civil Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted today. Meanwhile, the injured individual has been admitted to Jindal Hospital.

The car was driving too fast

According to eyewitnesses, a black Scorpio was approaching from the direction of Jindal Chowk at an extremely high speed, heading towards Camp Chowk. As the vehicle reached the midpoint of the Dabra Chowk flyover, it slammed into a Splendor motorcycle that was passing through the area. Following the collision, instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated further and fled the scene.

Ambulance was notified but didn’t arrive

Passers-by immediately after the accident called ‘Dial 112’ and asked for ambulance. While a police team promptly arrived at the scene, the ambulance failed to show up, even after a considerable wait. Finally, after a significant delay, an ambulance arrived at the site and, with the assistance of the police, transported the body to the Civil Hospital.

Police teams from two stations arrive

Given the gravity of the incident, police teams from both the Civil Lines and Urban Estate police stations rushed to the scene. Immediately thereafter, the police initiated a wireless alert (BT) and activated checkpoints across the city. The police have scoured CCTV footage in an attempt to identify the Scorpio’s driver; however, his whereabouts remain unknown at this time.
