Khalistani face in panic: Gopal Singh Chawla claims ‘house arrest’ as ISI tightens grip

Gopal Singh Chawla, long projected by Pakistan as a poster boy of Khalistani propaganda, now finds himself trapped in the very system he once served. In a series of desperate audio messages, Chawla has claimed that he has been secretly held under house arrest for more than two and a half years, not by India as he once alleged, but by Pakistan’s own intelligence establishment. Chawla says he is being kept at an undisclosed location, cut off from his family, and allowed only a handful of brief meetings with his wife and children at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib. His claim that Pakistan is detaining him under the false pretext of “Indian threats” exposes not just the Pakistani deep state’s duplicity, but also the hollowness of the Khalistani narrative that leaders like him helped sustain.
In his private conversations, Chawla has admitted that he has been completely sidelined, pushed out of Punjabi Sikh Sangat, PSGPC, and all community-related roles, a clear indication that Islamabad has discarded him after using him for years as a strategic pawn against India. He alleges that agencies are now attempting to trap him in fabricated cases, while simultaneously spreading the fiction that India is plotting to kill him.

The same Pakistan that once used him to target India now refuses to even let him live with his own family. Chawla describes financial hardship, emotional isolation, and deteriorating health during months of solitary confinement at Gurdwara Chowa Sahib in Rohtas, revealing the extent of his abandonment by the very forces he once served.

Chawla has also spoken about the mysterious disappearance of Mor Singh, a sevadar from Gurdwara Tambu Sahib, allegedly picked up by unidentified operatives while visiting Nankana Sahib. Chawla accuses Pakistan’s land mafias, shielded by local authorities, of taking control of nearly 300 gurdwaras and illegally selling or leasing their land, leaving Sikh heritage sites vulnerable and unprotected. Even more telling is his claim that agency personnel warned him of imaginary threats from Afghanistan, while he insists that the real danger to his life comes from the IS itself and figures like Ramesh Singh Arora. Chawla’s appeals to Sikh leaders worldwide, asking for international intervention to safeguard his life and highlight the collapsing state of Sikh religious institutions in Pakistan, further underline how Pakistan has betrayed its own minority community.

Meanwhile, Sikh sangat members from Nankana Sahib have released a video urging Pakistan’s authorities to ensure Chawla’s safety and provide him medical care, acknowledging that he is confined due to alleged threats. They have appealed for humanitarian relief, especially as Chawla’s mother and daughter are said to be seriously ill. Yet, beneath the emotional appeals lies a stark truth: even those speaking for Chawla cannot deny that Pakistan has reduced its once-favored Khalistani asset to a controlled detainee.
Chawla’s ordeal is a revealing glimpse into Pakistan’s long-standing strategy of exploiting Sikh sentiments for anti-India propaganda, then silencing the very individuals once they outlive their utility. His situation is a powerful reminder that Khalistan supporters nurtured by Pakistan ultimately fall victim to the same oppressive machinery that targets minorities, dissidents, and activists within its borders. India has been saying this for decades; Chawla’s own words now serve as the most damning evidence yet.
