Blast outside Punjab BJP office in Chandigarh, sparks citywide alert

A Blast has been reported outside the Punjab BJP office in Chandigarh. Police have reached the spot, and an investigation has begun.

As of now, the reason behind the blast is not known yet. Police investigation into the explosion heard outside the BJP Chandigarh office has begun, and soon the reason behind it will be disclosed.

The police have sealed off the entire area and initiated an investigation. Several teams from the Chandigarh Police have arrived at the scene.

Scooter owner, employee at BJP Office 

At the time the blast occurred, a scooter was observed parked at the location. This scooter belongs to Harsh, a young man who works at the BJP office’s call center. He had parked the scooter outside the office at 9:00 AM this morning. It was this very scooter that exploded.

Harsh stated that he works at the BJP office. He said, “I parked the scooter outside the office at 9:00 AM. When I returned in the evening, it had exploded. The scooter has sustained extensive damage. I have informed my senior.”

What did the Chandigarh Police said?

Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur stated that the blast took place outside the Punjab State BJP office at approximately 5:00 PM. An Activa scooter is visible at the site. Following the explosion, marks resembling pellet impacts—estimated to number between 70 and 80—were observed on the wall of the party office.

She further noted that the windshield of a car parked nearby was also shattered. A comprehensive investigation into the matter is currently underway, and the police have taken full control of the entire area.

What did Vineet Joshi say? 

Speaking on the matter, senior BJP leader and spokesperson Vineet Joshi remarked that this is a cause for concern. He noted that a loud bang was heard and that there were numerous marks on the walls. People are suggesting that these marks were caused by pellets. Police teams have arrived at the scene. It was a low-intensity explosion, though fortunately, no injuries or significant damage have been reported.
