Blast-Like Sound Near BJP Leader Ashwani Sharma’s Home Triggers Security Scare in Pathankot

Pathankot: A blast-like sound reported near senior BJP leader Ashwani Sharma residence in Pathankot on Sunday morning sparked panic in the area, prompting an immediate response from police and security agencies.

According to officials, Sharma had left his residence for Chandigarh around 4:30 a.m. Nearly an hour later, residents heard a loud noise about 50 metres from his house and alerted authorities.

CCTV, Forensic Teams Deployed

Police, intelligence officials, a forensic team, and a dog squad reached the spot and sealed the area. CCTV footage from nearby cameras was examined as part of the investigation. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Firecracker Suspected, Local Youth Identified

Initial investigation suggests the sound was not caused by an explosion but by a high-decibel firecracker. CCTV footage reportedly showed a local youth, identified as Abhishek, near the spot. Police are continuing the investigation to verify all aspects of the incident.
