Quetta: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistan Frontier Corps (FC) camp in Balochistan’s Washuk district, saying 18 FC personnel were killed and several others injured.
According to local media reports, the attack took place on October 1 at an FC 58 Wing camp in Gorinder, Mashkel area of Washuk district.
BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch claimed that fighters from the group’s newly formed Karima Armed Assault Division (KAAD) and its Qurban Unit jointly carried out the assault.
According to the group’s statement, the attackers surrounded the camp from several directions before launching the assault using rockets, grenade launchers and other weapons.
BLF Claims Further Casualties in Reinforcement Convoy
The BLF also claimed that a Pakistani military reinforcement convoy sent to the area came under attack, resulting in further casualties.
The group alleged that the bodies of personnel killed in the attack were later evacuated by helicopter to Panjgur. It also accused the Pakistani military of concealing the actual casualty figures and identities of those killed.
The casualty claims could not be independently verified.
BLF Highlights Role of Female Unit
The BLF described the involvement of its newly announced female unit, the Karima Armed Assault Division (KAAD), as a significant development.
The unit was recently unveiled by the group and was named after late Baloch political activist Kareema Baloch.
The latest claims come amid reports of increasing attacks by Baloch armed groups against Pakistani military and police forces across Balochistan.
Last month, the BLF also claimed that nine Pakistani military personnel were killed in attacks involving its newly formed female unit.
According to the group’s statement, six personnel were allegedly killed and several others injured in an attack by KAAD fighters on a three-vehicle Quick Response Force convoy on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway near Jusak, Turbat, on September 22.
The BLF claimed that its Qurban Unit also supported that operation and helped the fighters withdraw after Pakistani forces attempted to surround them.
The group further claimed that several Pakistani military vehicles were severely damaged and that one of its fighters, Chakar Murad alias Dileep Jan, was killed during the attack.
The BLF also claimed that KAAD fighters established blockades at three points on the Quetta-Karachi highway in Manguchar tehsil of Balochistan’s Kalat district. It said two Pakistani military personnel were killed when an armoured vehicle and two other vehicles approached the area.
