In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, Adani Airport Holdings has partnered with Blinkit to launch an in-terminal quick commerce service at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
The service allows passengers to order essential items directly within the airport terminal and get them delivered within minutes, marking a significant innovation in airport retail and passenger convenience.
Service launched at Terminal 2
The facility has been rolled out at Terminal 2 (domestic departures) of the Mumbai airport. Travellers can place orders using the Blinkit app and receive deliveries right inside the terminal without leaving their boarding area.
Currently, the service is limited to select passengers within this terminal, but it is expected to expand further depending on demand and operational feasibility.
Over 2,500 products available
Passengers can choose from a wide range of more than 2,500 products, including travel essentials such as phone chargers, books, snacks, gifts, and personal care items.
This offering is specifically curated for travellers who often need last-minute items before boarding flights, eliminating the need to search through airport stores.
Unique delivery model inside terminal
Unlike regular quick commerce deliveries that rely on bikes or external logistics, this service uses a dedicated “walker” delivery team operating entirely within the airport premises.
This model ensures compliance with airport security protocols while maintaining Blinkit’s promise of fast delivery. Orders are fulfilled within minutes and delivered directly to passengers inside the terminal.
First-of-its-kind globally
According to company officials, this initiative is not just a first for India but is among the first globally where quick commerce has been integrated inside an airport terminal.
The move reflects a growing trend of integrating digital commerce into high-footfall transit hubs, where time-sensitive consumer needs are highest.
Enhancing passenger convenience
Adani Airport Holdings stated that the initiative is part of its broader strategy to build technology-driven, passenger-centric airports. The service aims to enhance convenience by giving travellers more options beyond traditional airport retail, which is often limited and expensive.
For Blinkit, the launch represents expansion into a new consumption environment, targeting high-intent users who require quick access to products during travel.
Changing airport retail landscape
Airports have traditionally been spaces where consumers had limited choices and often paid premium prices for basic items. This new service disrupts that model by offering app-based pricing and wider product availability within the terminal itself.
Industry experts believe that such innovations could redefine airport shopping experiences and may soon be adopted at other major airports across India and globally.
Future expansion likely
While currently limited to Mumbai’s Terminal 2, the success of the initiative could pave the way for expansion to other terminals and airports operated by Adani Airport Holdings.
As quick commerce continues to evolve, this collaboration signals a shift towards seamless, on-demand retail experiences even in highly regulated environments like airports.
