Boiler Explosion at Ludhiana Verka Milk Plant kills one, five Injured

Five people were seriously injured and one person died in an explosion at the Verka Milk Plant in Ludhiana, Punjab. All the injured were admitted to the DMC Hospital. The management of the Verka Milk Plant informed the Sarabha Nagar Police Station, after which the police reached the spot.

According to the police, the situation was controlled last night, and preliminary investigations suggest that it was an accidental explosion of the boiler.

5 injured, 1 died 

According to police information, the explosion occurred in a boiler due to five people were injured. The injured have been identified as Kaluvant Singh, Ajit Singh, Puneet Kumar, Davinder Singh and Gurtej. Kunal Jain, 42, a resident of Haibowal, died in the accident. His wife also worked at the plant. Kunal Jain’s friends said that they were all attending a birthday party the night before.

The trial was being conducted after Vishwakarma Puja

As per information, Kunal received a call and was called to the plant that night. He said that he was asked to check the plant’s boiler. He was on leave and was called despite being off duty.

He was dedicated to his work: GM 

Daljit Singh, the plant’s GM, said, “We lost our boiler in-charge in this incident. The four other injured are now well. A technical team has been formed to investigate and the report will be presented to everyone. He wasn’t pressured; he came during the day and said the boiler had been tested. He was dedicated to his work and came to check it at night because the plant was to start in the morning. He had recently been promoted. The foreman and other employees are at DMC. The milk powder plant was to be started, and such a blast hadn’t happened before. His wife also works there.”
