Mumbai: Mau Superintendent of Police Ilamaran stated on Tuesday that no suspicious object was found during the investigation following a bomb threat on the Kashi Express, traveling from Gorakhpur to Mumbai. He stated that the call was made by an unknown person and is now being investigated.
Passengers Evacuated, Train Thoroughly Searched
Speaking to the media, the SP stated that at around 9:30 a.m., the control room received a call from an unknown number claiming a bomb had been placed on the Kashi Express. Upon receiving the information, a joint team of Mau police, GRP, and RPF immediately arrived at the railway station.
He said, “As soon as the train arrived at the station, passengers and members of the public were evacuated. Our joint team then conducted a thorough search of all the train coaches. At present, we have not found any suspicious or explosive material.”
Call Suspected to Be an ‘Internet Call’; Probe Underway
SP Ilamaran further stated that preliminary investigations suggest the call was an “internet call.” He said, “We are investigating the call and the surveillance team is working on the matter.”
Train Halted, Passengers Asked to Wait
Meanwhile, Ram Yadav, Chief Ticket Inspector at Mau Railway Station, stated that the train was stopped at the station due to a bomb threat. He said, “All passengers have been deboarded and seated in the waiting room. The train is being searched by police and a bomb squad.”
Meanwhile, a passenger traveling to Mumbai on the train reported that the investigation has been ongoing for over an hour and passengers have been asked to wait at the station.
