Bomb Threats to Schools and Colleges

In recent days, terrorists have adopted a new, sinister method to carry out their terror campaigns: sending messages threatening to bomb schools, courts, railway stations, and other locations.

Attempts are being made to spread this terror not only in Punjab but also in states like Jharkhand and Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, threats to blow up passport offices have been received. This has caused panic in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Pali.

There is no city in Punjab where terrorists have not issued threats. One day, they threaten to bomb schools and hospitals in Amritsar, and the next day, they issue similar threats for Jalandhar.Terrorists have also threatened to bomb the Secretariat, PGI, and educational institutions in Chandigarh. Bomb threats have also been issued against schools and the district court in Ludhiana. While no unfortunate incident has occurred, threats create complete chaos in sensitive areas. The way life comes to a standstill is itself an environment that threats are aimed at. Whether an accident occurs or not, the administration cannot afford to be negligent.

Threatening emails cannot be ignored as mere gossip. Vigilance is always essential, because if an unfortunate incident occurs in these areas, the blame will fall on negligence. Even empty threats pose no less of a threat. Extra caution should still be exercised in schools, offices, hospitals, and other public places. The key question is why the perpetrators of these threats are not caught?

Government action should not be limited to mere vigilance. The perpetrators behind these incidents must be apprehended and severely punished so that they do not dare to create chaos in the future. After receiving threats, shutting down the functioning of schools, colleges, or cities in the name of investigation is not the solution.

A strategy should be developed to investigate the emails or phone numbers of those issuing threats, to locate them, and to bring them to justice. Aggressive action against those who destroy social peace is the only way to do so. If the system can expose such traitors and impose exemplary punishments, this trend can be curbed to some extent. Otherwise, those issuing these threats will not cease their activities.
