Jalandhar: Tension prevailed in Chak Zinda village under Jalandhar district after a 14-year-old boy went missing, triggering strong protests from local residents.
According to villagers, the minor, identified as Karan, left his home on February 16 for some work but did not return. Concerned family members immediately informed the police and lodged a complaint regarding his disappearance.
However, villagers allege that despite the complaint, the police have failed to take effective action and have been adopting a delaying approach in tracing the boy.
Angered by the alleged inaction, residents on Wednesday blocked the Amritsar–Jalandhar highway near Chak Zinda village, demanding immediate efforts to locate the missing teenager. Protesters said that even after three days, no concrete steps had been taken, leaving them with no option but to take to the streets.
Police officials have yet to issue a detailed statement on the matter.
