Sandhu chaired a meeting to assess Delhi’s preparedness for the high-profile international summit, which India will host in New Delhi on September 12 and 13 during its BRICS chairship in 2026.

Delhi to ensure smooth security and traffic management

During the review meeting, the Lieutenant Governor directed all stakeholder departments and agencies to ensure smooth traffic movement and robust security arrangements across key venues and movement corridors.

He also stressed the need for effective civic upkeep and emergency medical preparedness to ensure that arrangements remain in place throughout the summit.

Sandhu said Delhi’s preparations should align with the national vision and priorities and called for seamless coordination between the agencies involved in organising and managing the summit.

‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ approach for BRICS delegates

The Delhi L-G said the capital is preparing to provide an orderly, secure and warm welcome to delegates attending the summit.

Invoking the traditional Indian ethos of “Atithi Devo Bhava”, he emphasised the importance of ensuring a smooth experience for visiting leaders and delegates.

The administration is focusing on coordination across traffic, security, civic services and emergency response systems as part of the preparations.
