Budget charts confident path to Viksit Bharat despite trade wars

Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra praised the Union Budget 2026‑27, saying it provides a confident path toward “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047 even amid global tariff and trade challenges. He credited the Budget with helping India progress without fear of external economic pressures.

    Reforms Aligned with National Vision

Speaking to reporters in Shivamogga, Vijayendra stated that despite tariff and trade tensions posed by global uncertainties, including pressures from the United States, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s ninth Budget introduced reforms aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of steering India toward long‑term development goals.

Focus on Key Sectors and Fiscal Discipline

He highlighted the Budget’s emphasis on priority sectors such as industry, tourism, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and agriculture, and said the fiscal deficit target of 4.4% reflects sound economic management. Support for sectors essential to growth and innovation was lauded as a step toward resilience and inclusivity.

    Benefits for Karnataka

Vijayendra also pointed out that Karnataka’s tax share from central taxes has increased, resulting in higher annual revenue for the state, which he said would provide significant financial benefits over the next five years. He noted enhancements in allocations for infrastructure, income support schemes, and sectoral development.

    Budget Against Global Challenges

Acknowledging the global economic environment, Vijayendra said the Budget’s structure ensures India can navigate tariff conflicts and global trade tensions without losing momentum on its domestic economic goals. The reforms, he said, promote clarity over ambiguity and prioritise public interest over populism.

    Inclusive Growth and Equity

He further stated the Budget’s provisions will benefit a wide range of groups including farmers, women and youth and support initiatives aimed at doubling farmers’ income and enhancing entrepreneurial opportunities. By addressing both traditional and emerging sectors, the Budget was called comprehensive and forward‑looking.

    Summary:

Karnataka BJP chief B.Y. Vijayendra described the Union Budget 2026‑27 as a strong and confident blueprint for achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047, highlighting its emphasis on economic reforms, fiscal discipline, sectoral support and resilience amid global tariff and trade challenges.
