Four Bihar Police Personnel Suspended Over Alleged Negligence in Bunty Yadav Murder Case

Patna: The Bihar Police on Tuesday suspended four police personnel for alleged negligence in connection with the Bunty Yadav murder case, following a departmental inquiry into the police response during the victim’s alleged abduction in Patna.

The suspended personnel include Assistant Sub-Inspectors Praveen Kumar Pankaj, Avadhesh Kumar and Veer Bahadur Singh, along with Home Guard Sudarshan Prasad.

According to officials, all four have been attached to the New Police Lines in Patna during the suspension period and have been directed to submit written explanations within three days.

Police Team Was Near the Spot During Alleged Abduction

Police said the suspended personnel were part of the Dial-112 emergency response team and a patrolling unit that was reportedly stationed about 100 metres from the location where Bunty Yadav was allegedly abducted on the night of July 6.

Despite their proximity to the scene, officials alleged that they neither detected the incident nor intervened in time. The departmental inquiry treated the alleged failure as a serious lapse in duty, leading to disciplinary action.

Body Recovered Five Days Later

According to investigators, Bunty Yadav was allegedly abducted from the Patna Junction area on July 6 by a group of assailants. CCTV footage related to the incident later surfaced.

Despite repeated appeals from the victim’s family for prompt action, his body was recovered nearly five days later. Police suspect the accused also attempted to conceal the victim’s identity.

The incident sparked criticism over the police response and the effectiveness of patrolling arrangements in the area.

Political Leaders Seek Strict Action

Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav and Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav separately met the victim’s family and demanded strict action against those responsible for the murder.

Ram Kripal Yadav alleged that when the family initially approached the Jakkanpur Police Station, their complaint was not registered due to jurisdiction-related issues, despite the provision for registering a Zero FIR.

He also referred to allegations that Bunty Yadav had been raising his voice against an alleged sex racket operating in the area and said the matter required a thorough investigation.

Pappu Yadav demanded a speedy trial, financial compensation of ₹1 crore, a government job for a family member and adequate security for the victim’s family.

Police said the investigation into the murder is continuing.
