Bus collides with Car in Jalandhar: Two members of same family injured

A violent collision occurred between a bus and a car on the Goraya National Highway in Jalandhar. Two members of a family traveling in the car sustained injuries in the accident, while both vehicles suffered damage. The collision resulted in a traffic jam on the road, which was eventually cleared by locals after considerable effort.

Hardeep Singh, the car owner and a resident of Atti village, stated that he was traveling to Jalandhar with his family to purchase medicines. His car was parked behind the canal near Atta village, close to Goraya, when a private bus approaching from the direction of Ludhiana crashed into his stationary vehicle. The accident left his car severely damaged and caused him injuries, resulting in financial losses amounting to hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Passengers aboard the bus reported that the vehicle was traveling at a very high speed. They claimed to have repeatedly asked the driver to slow down, but he failed to reduce the bus’s speed in his eagerness to pick up more passengers. The passengers also mentioned that, shortly before this incident, the bus had narrowly avoided colliding with another car.

Bus Driver Offers Explanation

Meanwhile, the bus driver, Sarabjit Singh, offered a different account, stating that he was exiting the service lane from Ludhiana onto the Goraya route. He claimed that a car attempted to enter the highway from the wrong direction by making a U-turn, which he managed to avoid. Subsequently, a second car also attempted to enter the highway from the wrong side, leading to the accident.

Police Initiate Investigation

ASI Surinder Mohan of the Goraya Police Station, who arrived at the scene, confirmed that both vehicles involved in the accident have been taken into police custody. The police are currently recording statements from both parties, following which appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
