Bus-truck collision in Katihar, Bihar, 13 killed, 30 injured

Katihar: At least 13 people were killed and around 30 injured in a collision between a bus, a truck, and a pickup truck in Katihar district, Bihar, police said.

The accident occurred on Saturday evening on NH-31 in the Kodha block under the Korha police station area, following which a rescue operation was immediately launched.

Rescue operation and treatment of the injured

Upon receiving information about the accident, police and relief teams reached the spot and evacuated the injured and admitted them to nearby hospitals.

The administration took swift action and brought the situation under control.

Chief Minister announces compensation

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

This amount will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Investigation into the cause of the accident continues

According to the police, the cause of the accident is being investigated. Preliminary information suggests that the collision may have occurred due to the bus driver losing control of the vehicle.
