On Friday, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, announced that he delivered the keynote speech at the CSIS event titled ‘India’s Evolving Manufacturing Landscape’ in Washington, D.C. He highlighted how significant reforms, diversification, and localized supply chains are evolving India into a global manufacturing hub. In a post on X, he noted, “I delivered the keynote at the CSIS event on ‘India’s Evolving Manufacturing Landscape’ in Washington DC. I discussed the transformative impact of historic reforms, diversification, and localized supply chains on India’s manufacturing sector. I also emphasized the ‘Make In India’ initiative’s role in establishing India as a significant beneficiary of changing global supply chains, creating excellent opportunities for investors.”
Goyal then met with William E. Conway, co-founder and co-chairman of the Carlyle Group. He remarked, “I had a great meeting with Mr. William E. Conway, Jr., Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the Carlyle Group, one of the largest and most diversified investment firms in the world. With the firm’s positive outlook on India, we explored investment opportunities to enhance the inflow of capital into the country for future growth.”
Additionally, Goyal engaged in discussions with US Trade Representative Katherine Tai about strengthening the India-US trade partnership. He shared, “I had a wonderful meeting with my friend, US Trade Representative Katherine Tai. We thoroughly discussed methods to enhance the India-US trade relationship, with both sides dedicated to fortifying bilateral ties and identifying new growth opportunities in critical and emerging sectors.”
Goyal also met Julian Nebreda, the President and CEO of Fluence, to discuss India’s renewable energy aspirations and potential collaborations in solar PV integration, battery storage, and offshore wind projects.
He stated, “I had an insightful conversation about the future of the energy sector with Julian Nebreda, President & CEO of Fluence, a prominent global energy firm. We explored India’s renewable energy goals and opportunities for partnership in solar PV integration, battery storage, and offshore wind initiatives, stressing the importance of global collaborations to encourage sustainable energy investments for a greener future.”
