Cabinet approves Jaipur Metro Phase-2

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project worth ₹13,037.66 crore. This 41-km-long North-South corridor will be built from Prahladpura to Todi Mor, consisting of 36 stations.

The project will be implemented by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited, a joint venture between the Central and Rajasthan governments.

Key areas to benefit
The Phase-2 corridor will provide improved connectivity to key areas such as Sitapura Industrial Area, VKIA, Jaipur Airport, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital, Ambabari, and Vidyadhar Nagar.

The project will connect with the existing Phase-1 through interchanges and feeder systems, ensuring seamless travel across the city.

Existing network will be expanded
Jaipur already operates an 11.64 km metro line from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar under Phase 1, with 11 stations.

After the launch of Phase 2, the metro network will expand and a significant increase in daily ridership is expected.

Project to be completed by 2031
The project is targeted for completion by September 2031 and is in line with the Metro Rail Policy 2017 and Rajasthan’s TOD Policy 2025.

This will reduce traffic congestion, reduce pollution, and improve the city’s transportation system, further strengthening Jaipur’s position as a modern and smart city.
