Breaking-Fake call centre busted in Ludhiana, 9 persons arrested for cheating US citizens

Ludhiana: The city police have busted a fake call centre in Ludhiana with the arrest of nine persons.According to the police, a call centre named Success Solutions Care was operating in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar at Dhandra Road. The accused used to target US citizens and used to contact them randomly. The accused used to pose as an America based software engineer and then on pretext of resolving their issues in laptops and computers, the accused used to send viruses in their systems and then used to dupe them of a heavy amount.

The city police have recovered a total of four laptops, 24 CPUs and six headphones from the call centre.

The arrested accused have been identified as Ratinder Singh alias Rikk alias Tinu of Model House at Bebi Nanaki Dugri Road, Sukhpreet Singh of New Hargobind Nagar, Sumant Mahajan of Janakpuri, Mayank Joshi of Durgapuri Haibowal, Aditya Chauhan of Pratap Singh Wala, Ishant Singh Rana of Daba Lohara Road, Dilpreet Singh of New Janta Nagar, Sandeep Kumar of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar and Sameer Beri of Golf Link Hambran Road.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP – South) Guriqbal Singh said that Inspector Harshveer Singh, SHO, Sadar, on the basis of tip off conducted a raid and arrested nine persons from the centre.

ACP said that the accused used to cheat US citizens through tech support scams. ACP said that the police are further questioning the accused and trying to get in detail about their modus operandi and the amount they have collected so far by cheating the US citizens.

A case under sections 319(2), 318(4), 61(2) of BNS, 66 C, 66D of IT Act has been registered against the accused at Sadar police station.
